Associate Supply Planner/Supply Planner

The Hershey Company, the largest North American manufacturer of quality chocolate and sugar confectionery products, has an opportunity in our Supply Planning Operations area in Hershey, PA.

Overview:

Due to the frequent promotion of our staff, we have a need for a new team member. We seek experienced supply planners who are highly motivated and possess good analytical and communication skills.

The Hershey Company's Supply Planning Department maintains a motivated, challenged and engaged team to provide a high degree of product availability through effective and efficient use of manufacturing resources while optimizing inventory. The primary purpose of a supply planner is to develop and implement a production planning and inventory management strategy to support customer service goals and achieve the company's financial goals. In this role, our department receives extensive exposure to all facets of the organization and many levels of management. As a result of this exposure, our Department has become a key developmental organization whose members frequently are sought to fill various professional staff positions throughout the Company.

Responsibilities:

Production Planning - Production plans are developed to support the business plan for assigned brands and products.

Master Scheduling - Schedule finished goods production for each assigned product group. This schedule is developed using Manugistics Supply recommendations based upon scheduling parameters and system settings the supply planner has developed and maintains in the system to support sales goals, inventory financial targets as well as minimizing the age of product when shipped to a customer.

ATP support/Customer Service - Maintain accurate production information in Manugistics/SAP to ensure product is available to support customer service level targets.

Product Supply Coordination - Coordinate activity that impacts The Hershey Company's ability to maintain constant and sufficient product supply, ensuring communication with Customer Service, Sales, Marketing, and other internal customers.

Deployment - Equitably deploy finished good inventories of assigned items across the distribution network to support customer needs using Manugistics supply planning software.

Inventory Management - Manage and control finished goods inventories for assigned items in order to achieve the company's financial targets.

Miscellaneous Tasks - Participate in department and company initiatives requiring the expertise of a supply planner. Activities could include but are not limited to consensus seasonal teams, new product introduction teams or business process initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education: B.S. in Business Administration, preferably with emphasis in Logistics Management or equivalent

Experience:  This position can be filled at one of two levels depending on experience:  Associate Supply Planner or Supply Planner. 

Minimum of 2-3 years progressive, related experience in such areas as production scheduling, inventory management or supply/operations planning. Computer skills including Manugistics, SAP, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) are strongly preferred. APICS certification is a plus.
